Honey Buttercream & Naked Red Berry Wedding Cake

It turned out to be a wonderful day for taking pictures at Kits beach in Vancouver. The object of our affection on this gorgeously cloudy day, was this naked red berry wedding cake. Such rustic cake style is growing in popularity, as brides seek healthier cake options that still look great. Naked cakes are sometimes less expensive as well, seeing as they are easier to make and require fewer ingredients. If you’re looking for a fresh and light way to celebrate your big day, a naked cake might be for you!

Ingredients: coconut flour, butter, free-range eggs, maple syrup, with honey buttercream, organic whipped cream & berry compote

Honey Buttercream

  • Servings: 1 1/2 cups
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Print


  • 1 cup butter, unsalted, room temp
  • 1/2 cup clover honey
  • pinch or two of salt (to taste)


  1. Whip butter 1 minute.
  2. Blend in honey and salt until fluffy, another minute.
  3. Spread or pipe onto cake immediately (or store in fridge and re-whip before using).

This recipe works best without adding any liquid ingredients; liquids cause it to separate. If you would like to add vanilla, go for vanilla bean powder. Also clover honey blends better than runny honey. Enjoy!
